CNC Machining FAQ | Common Questions from International Buyers

Answers to the most common questions we receive from buyers about our CNC machining services, quoting process, capabilities, quality documentation, and lead times.

Quoting & RFQ Process

What information should I include in a CNC machining RFQ?

Include as much detail as possible: CAD file or technical drawing (PDF, STEP, DXF, DWG), target material, required quantity, dimensional tolerances, surface finish requirements, and any inspection or documentation needs. If you do not have a drawing, a sketch with key dimensions and a written description of the part function is enough to get started.

How long does a quote take?

We typically respond within 24 hours on working days for standard RFQs. Complex RFQs with multiple parts, unusual materials, or special inspection requirements may take 1–3 business days for our engineering team to review thoroughly.

Do you offer DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback?

Yes. We review every RFQ for manufacturability before quoting. Our engineers flag anything that could increase cost, affect quality, or extend lead time. DFM feedback is free and included with every quotation — we want to make sure the parts you need are producible at the best possible price.

What file formats do you accept?

We prefer: PDF (technical drawings), STEP (.step, .stp), DXF, DWG, IGS, and SolidWorks (.sldprt, .sldasm). If you only have a sketch or photo, send it along and we will work from that.

Materials & Tolerances

What materials can you machine?

We regularly machine: Aluminum (6061, 7075, 5052), Stainless Steel (303, 304, 316, 416), Carbon Steel (4140, 1045, A36), Tool Steel (D2, H13), Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5), Brass, Copper, Bronze, and engineering plastics (Delrin/POM, PEEK, Nylon, ABS, UHMW-PE, PC/Acrylic). If you need something not listed here, ask.

What tolerances can you achieve?

Our standard CNC tolerance is ±0.01mm (ISO 286 IT6). Tighter tolerances down to ±0.005mm are achievable depending on the part geometry, material, and required inspection method. We will confirm achievable tolerances for your specific part during the RFQ review.

Can you machine titanium?

Yes. Titanium Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5) is among our specialty materials. We have appropriate tooling, cutting parameters, and coolant management specifically developed for titanium machining. We regularly produce titanium parts for aerospace and medical device buyers.

Can you source materials for my project?

Yes. We work with local metal distributors and can source most standard materials within 2–3 business days. For exotic alloys or specialty plastics, lead times vary. Material costs are quoted separately and included in the part price.

Lead Times & Minimum Order

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

There is no strict MOQ. We accept single-piece prototype orders as well as high-volume production runs. Part pricing is quoted per unit based on quantity, complexity, and material. The more you order, the lower the per-unit price.

What are typical lead times?

Prototype / Sample parts: 5–10 business days from drawing approval. Production orders: typically 15–25 business days depending on order volume, material lead time, and surface finish requirements. Rush orders can sometimes be accommodated — ask when you submit your RFQ.

Can you do express / rush orders?

Depending on our current schedule, we can sometimes prioritize urgent orders. Express service is subject to availability and typically carries a rush fee. Contact us as early as possible if you have a tight deadline.

Quality & Documentation

Do you provide inspection reports?

Yes. Standard dimensional inspection reports are included with every shipment at no extra charge. Additional documentation available on request: First Article Inspection (FAI) reports, CMM data, material certificates (Mill Test Reports), surface roughness measurements, and Certificate of Conformance (CoC).

Are you ISO certified?

Yes. We operate under ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management. Our process includes documented process control, calibrated inspection equipment, and full traceability from raw material to finished part. We can also accommodate AS9100 (aerospace) and ISO 13485 (medical) quality requirements when specified.

What countries do you export to?

We regularly ship to the USA, Canada, Germany, the UK, France, Japan, Australia, and other markets. We handle all export documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin. Freight forwarding can be arranged or you can use your own freight forwarder.

Payment & Terms

What payment methods do you accept?

For first orders, we typically require payment before production (T/T bank transfer). For established clients with ongoing orders, we can discuss payment terms including T/T 30 days or L/C. Payment methods accepted: bank wire transfer (T/T), PayPal (for small orders), and letter of credit (L/C) for larger orders.

Do you offer NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement)?

Yes. We are happy to sign NDAs before discussing your project. We treat all customer designs and technical information as strictly confidential and do not share any client-specific information with third parties.
